NATURE OF WORK

 

You will review and process liquor license requests and related documents for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.  You will review material sent by applicants to ensure that it is complete and in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations.  You will also resolve discrepancies in reports and case files, and recommend approval or denial of liquor license requests.  Technicians at the 2 level work more independently and on more complex applications.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed.  Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.

 

You are subject to Pennsylvania residency requirements and must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Visit the Commissionís website, Job Seekers page, for PA Residency Information.

 

Your background will be checked.  If you have been convicted of a felony within the last 10 years, you cannot work for the PLCB.  If you have other criminal convictions, they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine if they are job related.  If they are, you may not be appointed or could be removed from the position.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

LCB Licensing Technician 1 - Three years of clerical experience supporting a legal, licensing or other regulatory program requiring the application of statutes, program policies or industry regulations; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

LCB Licensing Technician 2 - Four years of clerical or administrative experience supporting a legal, licensing or other regulatory program requiring the application of statutes, program policies or industry regulations; OR 1 year of experience as a LCB Licensing Technician 1; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

TESTING

 

The test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission Office. 

 

You will have a maximum of 3 hours to complete the test which will cover the following subject areas:

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test.  You must submit a new application to be retested.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
