NATURE OF WORK
You will be responsible for determining the cost effectiveness of enrolling eligible Medical Assistance recipients into alternative health insurance plans, and for administering and maintaining the Medigap Insurance Program. You will analyze and compare employer group insurance premiums for specified coverage against the projected Medical Assistance expenditures for Medical Assistance recipients. You will also answer inquiries from clients, insurance companies, assistance offices, and employers; calculate overpayments; maintain records; and use various computer systems to maintain data.

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum Requirements
One year of experience as a Third Party Liability Program Technician or Medical Assistance Program Technician; OR 4 years of experience in the review and analysis of medical insurance policies and premiums, reviewing and responding to inquiries relating to applicable service or benefits in health care insurance programs, health care services or Medical Assistance program services; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

There are 31 filled positions located in the Harrisburg Central Office on the DGS Annex Complex Grounds (Dauphin County); Clarks Summit State Hospital (Lackawanna County); Torrance State Hospital (Westmoreland County); and Warren State Hospital (Warren County). Approximately 4 vacancies occur annually.

TESTING
The test will be administered on a computer. Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.
You will have a maximum of 2 hours to complete the test which will cover the following subject areas:

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
The test also will be held approximately 10 days a month at additional test centers located in Allentown, Erie, Johnstown, Lock Haven, and Scranton. If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test. You must submit a new application to be retested.
If your name is on an eligible list and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
This list will replace any previous list.
This test and scoring procedure are different from previous tests for this job title. If you have taken the test before, you may receive a different score on this test.
