JOB OPPORTUNITIES
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
Forest Patrolmen work for the Bureau of Forestry in the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). The work is seasonal and is required only during seasonal dry periods, usually 8 to 10 weeks from mid-March through May, and 8 to 10 weeks from mid-October to the first snowfall. Do not apply unless you are available to work during these times periods. The work may involve unusual hours, weekends and holidays.
DCNR normally hires 5 Patrolmen each year. The actual number may vary depending on agency needs and budget considerations. Job opportunities are available in the following counties: Cameron, Carbon, Clearfield, Dauphin, Huntingdon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Montgomery, Northumberland and Schuylkill.
For the most recent information on job opportunities, contact the DCNR Forest District Office of the county in which you wish to work. These are listed in the “How to Apply” section of this announcement.
TESTING
The Employment Questionnaire section of your application requires you to indicate where you are willing to work. You must make yourself available for work in a county serviced by the Forest District Office at which you apply. You also may make yourself available for other counties where positions exist. These counties are listed after the Forest District Office address in the “How to Apply” section of this announcement.
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and Application Supplement No. 2011-081-1, available only at Forest District Offices. When you visit the Forest District Office where you want to work, you will be given a Civil Service application, an Application Supplement No. 2011-081-1, and an answer sheet. You will be asked to complete these forms and leave them at the Forest District Office for forwarding to the State Civil Service Commission.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test. You must submit a new application to be retested.
If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
