NATURE OF WORK
You will direct various functions in roadway programs management. You will prepare and monitor budget requirements for roadway maintenance projects; determine purchasing needs; evaluate bids, contracts, and vendors’ performance; monitor inventory; and direct the receipt, storage and issuance of materials. You will assist with the administration, maintenance, enhancement, and upgrades of computer maintenance management systems, coordinate the integration of data with other computer systems, and manipulate and provide system data to others. You may coordinate tort lawsuit actions and small claims activities, review and assess complaints, and supervise technical and clerical employees.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum Requirements
One year of experience as a Roadway Programs Specialist or Roadway Programs Technician Supervisor; OR three years of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and an associate’s degree in a field of business administration, computer science, highway engineering technology, or closely related program; OR one year experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or civil engineering related discipline; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

Filled positions are with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Positions are located in PennDOT District Engineering Offices throughout the Commonwealth and in central headquarters in Harrisburg (Dauphin County).

TESTING
The test will be administered on a computer. Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
The test also will be held approximately 10 days a month at additional test centers located in Allentown, Erie, Johnstown, Lock Haven, and Scranton. If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test. You must submit a new application to be retested.
If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
