NATURE OF WORK
Pharmacist – You will dispense physicians’ prescriptions, including a variety of ointments, powders, solutions, medicines, drugs, and other pharmaceutical supplies used in facilities throughout the Commonwealth. You will maintain and review medication records, develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients, and may direct the work of pharmacy assistants and custodial or non-technical personnel.
Chief Pharmacist – You will direct all pharmaceutical services in a facility, including the establishment of policies, procedures, and controls for dispensing pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical supplies. You will maintain appropriate pharmacy records, provide consultative services to the medical staff, and recommend purchase of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical supplies. You will supervise pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, clerical staff, and custodial personnel.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Child Protective Services Law, you will have to provide reports on your background, at your own expense, from such sources as the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Services Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police, or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If you have not been a resident of Pennsylvania for 2 years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
You must pass a background investigation. After you receive a conditional offer of employment you must undergo a medical examination.
Necessary Special Requirement – Both Job Titles
Possession of a license to practice pharmacy issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
Minimum Requirements
Pharmacist - No additional experience is required.
Chief Pharmacist – Two years of experience as a pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy.
Clarification of Requirements for Chief Pharmacist
Experience as a pharmacist in other facilities may be acceptable if the standards are comparable to a hospital-type facility.

TESTING
Your application will be evaluated to determine whether you meet the Minimum Requirements and Necessary Special Requirement. If you meet these requirements, you will receive a score.
You must provide your license number and expiration date of your Pharmacist license in the “Licenses or Certificates” section of your Application for Employment/Promotion. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in disqualification.
If you are found ineligible and subsequently obtain proof of your credentials, you may resubmit an application with the qualifying information at any time during the life of this announcement. A new application is required.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
