NATURE OF WORK

 

Licensed Occupational Therapist – You will plan, design and implement the delivery of occupational therapy and assistive technology services to clients and coordinate facility wide occupational therapy services with other disciplines.  Work includes conducting assessments of patients/residents functional levels; writing an occupational therapy program based on the findings in the assessment, screening referrals for evaluation need or referral to other clinical services; writing initial evaluations, progress notes and discharge summary; supervising licensed Occupational Therapy Assistants in the conduct of their activities.

 

Occupational Therapist Supervisor – You will plan, organize and supervise the delivery of occupational therapy services to patients/residents.  Work involves directing the design, implementation and evaluation of occupational therapy program plans; planning, developing and implementing medically, developmentally, or psychologically focused occupational therapy programs to determine current levels and assist patients/residents in developing basic functional skills or retain or strengthen existing skills; developing operational procedures; and interpreting policies and programs for staff.  You will also provide hands-on direct care to patients/residents by assisting with assessments, program design and implementation.

 

Chief Occupational Therapist – You will direct the total delivery of occupational therapy services within a facility.  Work includes planning, management, coordination, evaluation and integration of medically, developmentally, or psychologically focused occupational therapy services; developing policies and procedures for staff; coordinating the delivery of all occupational therapy services with other professional services in the facility; planning and directing occupational therapy-related training for professional and non-professional staff; planning, directing and coordinating internship programs; consulting with physicians and other professionals on the development, implementation and conduct of occupational therapy services; requisitioning, inspecting and supervising proper maintenance of equipment and materials; and preparing reports on the facility’s occupational therapy services.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for these job titles.

 

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Child Protective Services Law, you will have to provide reports on your background, at your own expense, from such sources as the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.  If you are not a Pennsylvania resident, you must also obtain a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  If your background is unacceptable, you will be disqualified for employment in such positions.  You will receive information about these requirements and how to obtain the required reports at the time you are being considered for employment.

 

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Service Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you.  If you are not currently a Pennsylvania resident, or if you are currently a Pennsylvania resident and have not been a resident for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  If your background is unacceptable, you will be disqualified for employment in such positions.  You will receive information about these requirements and how to obtain the required reports at the time you are being considered for employment.

 

After you receive a conditional offer of employment, you must undergo a medical examination.

 

Necessary Special Requirement for All Job Titles

Possession of a license to practice occupational therapy issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Occupational Therapy Education and Licensure.

 

Persons holding a temporary license must attain full licensure within one year of the issuance of a temporary license.

 

Clarification for the Necessary Special Requirement

You will be admitted to this examination program if you possess a license to practice as an Occupational Therapist issued by another jurisdiction.  At the time of appointment to a position, you will have to show proof of possession of a current, valid Pennsylvania Occupational Therapist license.

 

You must report your license number, date issued, and issuing organization in the “Licenses or Certificates” section of your application.

 

Minimum Requirements

Licensed Occupational Therapist – You must meet the “Necessary Special Requirement” listed above.

 

Occupational Therapist Supervisor – One year as a Licensed Occupational Therapist; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Chief Occupational Therapist – One year as an Occupational Therapist Supervisor; OR two years of experience as a professional licensed occupational therapist; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

TESTING

 

Your application will be evaluated to determine whether you meet the Minimum Requirements and Necessary Special Requirement.  If you meet these requirements, you will receive a score.  You must provide your license number and expiration date in the “Licenses or Certificates” section of your application.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your application.  A new application is required for a retest.

 

TEST RESULTS
