NATURE OF WORK

 

Workforce Development Analysts develop and conduct training on workforce development policies and procedures; provide assistance with program operations through PA CareerLink offices; attend business service team meetings; compile lists of best practices; and facilitate problem-solving processes.  Workforce Development Analysts also present findings and rationales through written summaries or presentations to workforce partners, supervisory and management staff, customers, and the public.

 

A Workforce Development Analyst 2 level is distinguished by greater independence in gathering data and analyzing and evaluating specific statewide workforce development programs and initiatives.

 

A Workforce Development Supervisor plans and implements workforce development programs and supervises the work of Workforce Development Analysts.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed.  Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.

 

For some jobs, offers of employment will be made only if you are willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

Minimum Requirements

 

Workforce Development Analyst 1 - One year of experience in performing technical work in a workforce development program, and a bachelorís degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Workforce Development Analyst 2 - One year as a Workforce Development Analyst 1; OR 2 years of experience in performing technical work in a workforce development program, and a bachelorís degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Workforce Development Supervisor - One year as a Workforce Development Analyst 2; OR 3 years of experience in performing technical work in a workforce development program, and a bachelorís degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Positions are located in the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.  The majority of these positions are in Dauphin County.  Other positions are scattered throughout the state in various CareerLink Centers.  The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry expects to fill approximately 10 Workforce Development Analyst 1 positions, 5 Workforce Development Analyst 2 positions, and 2 Workforce Development Supervisor positions.

TESTING

 

The test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.

You may take the test once under this announcement.  You may not reapply until another examination is announced.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

If this announcement does not produce enough names for a specific area, another test may be announced for that area only.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.

 

For Workforce Development Analysts 1 and 2, these lists will replace any previous lists.

 

For Workforce Development Analysts 1 and 2, this test and scoring procedure are different from previous tests for these job titles.  If you have taken the test before, you may receive a different score on the test.
