NATURE OF WORK
You will participate in structured and informal training to learn to provide visitor services, educational programs and information, and to enforce rules and Commonwealth laws. Work includes accompanying supervisors and other rangers on patrol, assisting in providing visitor and law enforcement services, and assisting in preparing written reports.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed. Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements. If after reading the requirements you are not sure you qualify, contact one of the Commission's offices listed at the end of this announcement.
You must be willing to travel. All travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
Conditions of Employment
You must be at least 21 years of age at time of employment.
You must possess a valid certificate or its equivalent in first aid and adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as approved by the PA Department of Health for professional rescuers or healthcare professionals at the time of interview.
Certain positions in this job require possession of a valid Class M operator’s license.
Minimum Requirements
Completion of 15 credits in natural or environmental sciences, natural resource management, park management, outdoor recreation, forestry, environmental education, ecology, wildlife management, or related natural resource or recreation courses.

TESTING
The multiple-choice test will be administered on a computer. Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.
You will have a maximum of 2 and 1/2 hours to complete the test which will cover the following subject areas:

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
The test also will be held approximately 10 days a month at additional test centers located in Allentown, Erie, Johnstown, Lock Haven, and Scranton. If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results." A new application is required for a retest.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion list will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
