NATURE OF WORK
You will be performing professional work in a state mental health hospital/mental retardation center/long term care facility monitoring and evaluating the appropriateness and quality of resident care. You will interpret regulations, prepare for licensing surveys, participate in the development and improvement of a quality assurance program, chair the quality assurance/risk management committee and develop reports. You also will provide guidance and technical assistance to interdisciplinary clinical and non-clinical staff. Quality Assurance/Risk Management Directors oversee the work of an integrated, interdisciplinary, professional staff tasked with monitoring and evaluating a QA/RM support program and work with a high degree of independence under the general supervision of a facility administrator.

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

All of the positions in these job titles come under the provisions of the Older Adults Protective Services Act. If you are a final candidate for one of these positions, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If your background is unacceptable, you will be disqualified for employment in such positions. You will receive information about this requirement and how to obtain the required reports at the time you are being considered for employment.
Minimum Requirements
Quality Assurance/Risk Management Specialist (43393)
Two years of professional experience as a member of a multiple disciplinary treatment team in a public or private health care facility and a bachelor’s degree; OR 2 years of clinical experience in a human services agency, including 1 year of administrative, evaluative or consultative experience in a health care program; and a bachelor’s degree with major course work in social work, nursing, health care administration, behavioral sciences or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Quality Assurance/Risk Management Coordinator (43392)
One year as a Quality Assurance/Risk Management Specialist; OR 3 years of professional experience as a member of a multiple disciplinary treatment team in a public or private health care facility and a bachelor’s degree; OR 3 years of clinical experience in a human services agency, including 2 years of administrative, evaluative, consultative or supervisory work in a health care program; and a bachelor’s degree with major course work in social work, nursing, health care administration, behavioral sciences or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Quality Assurance/Risk Management Director (43389)
One year of experience as a Quality Assurance/Risk Management Coordinator; OR 2 years of experience as a Quality Assurance/Risk Management Specialist; OR 4 years of professional experience as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team in a public or private health care facility, and a bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of clinical experience in a human services agency, including 3 years of professional, evaluative, consultative, or supervisory work in a health care program, and a bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 4 years of professional, evaluative, consultative or supervisory work in a health care program.
Clarification of Requirements
You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results." A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
