NATURE OF WORK

 

You will supervise food service and food production at a Commonwealth facility.  This includes training, assigning, inspecting, and evaluating the work of food service workers, cooks, and others.  You will estimate food needs to minimize waste; requisition, receive, and inspect food supplies and equipment; and prepare and maintain records and reports.

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Child Protective Services Law, you will have to provide reports on your background, at your own expense, from such sources as the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. 

 

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Services Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police, or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you.  If you have not been a resident of Pennsylvania for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

 

After you receive a conditional offer of employment, you must undergo a medical examination.

 

Minimum Requirements

Two years as a Food Service Worker and/or production experience, and an associate's degree with major coursework in food production and food service; OR 3 years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or coursework in food production, food service or a related field.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your application.  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
