NATURE OF WORK

 

Custodial Work Supervisors direct all custodial operations for a state facility.  You will schedule, assign, train, and supervise subordinates in carrying-out the cleaning and sanitation activities in these facilities.  These activities include a variety of cleaning tasks such as washing, waxing, dusting, and polishing floors, furniture and fixtures; cleaning lavatories; shoveling snow; sweeping and clearing walks; and keeping outside grounds orderly.

 

Custodial Services Managers 1 supervise a custodial services staff, and manage cleaning and sanitation functions to prevent infection (aseptic cleaning) in the facilities mentioned above.  You will interpret and direct the carrying-out of federal, state and certifying agency sanitary standards and regulations.  You will also manage and coordinate related services such as collecting and disposing of infectious waste, washing windows, controlling insects and rodents, collecting laundry and linen, removing snow from building entrances, and related functions.

Conditions of Employment

 

Custodial Work Supervisor

Eligibility for positions in a state healthcare, residential care, or rehabilitative care facility requires one year of qualifying experience which included aseptic cleaning and sanitation; hazardous or infectious waste or medical waste disposal; use and disposal of toxic materials; as well as experience in cleaning medical and isolation units.

 

Custodial Services Manager 1

Eligibility for positions in a state healthcare or residential care facility requires three years of qualifying experience which included the supervision of aseptic cleaning and sanitation; hazardous or infectious waste or medical waste disposal; use and disposal of toxic materials; as well as experience in cleaning medical and isolation units.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Custodial Work Supervisor

Three years of experience in custodial services work, including 1 year as a lead worker.

 

Custodial Services Manager 1

Two years as a Custodial Work Supervisor; OR 5 years of experience in custodial services work, including 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your application.  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

TEST RESULTS
