NATURE OF WORK

 

As a UCC Elevator Inspector, you will perform technical elevator inspection work.  You will conduct independent inspections of elevators and other lifting devices to ensure compliance with the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and other state laws regulating their construction, maintenance and operation.  You may provide on-the-job training to UCC Elevator Inspector Trainees.

 

As a UCC Elevator Inspection Supervisor, you will perform technical supervisory duties in the elevator inspection program within an assigned district.  Your work will involve assigning and reviewing the work for UCC Elevator Inspectors and Trainees.  You will review elevator inspection reports and recommendations for compliance with departmental polices and procedures and assist in difficult inspections.

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Necessary Special Requirement

 

Both Job Titles – Possession of a valid Qualified Elevator Inspector qualification.

 

The Department of Labor and Industry accepts Elevator (QEI) Certificate of Accreditation, issued by the following ASME approved agencies:

Post Employment Requirements

 

Both Job Titles - Employees must obtain a valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an Elevator Inspector within the probationary period.

 

UCC Elevator Inspection Supervisor only – Employees must obtain valid certifications issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a Passenger Ropeway Inspector and Building Code Official within the probationary period.

 

Condition of Employment

 

UCC Elevator Inspector only – Certain positions in this job may require a valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a Passenger Ropeway Inspector.

 

Both Job Titles – Certain positions in these jobs will require possession of a valid driver's license.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

UCC Elevator Inspector - Successful completion of the UCC Elevator Inspector Trainee program; OR two years of experience which involved the inspection, installation, repair, maintenance, or design of elevators, passenger ropeways, or other lifting devices.

 

UCC Elevator Inspection Supervisor - Two years of experience as a UCC Elevator Inspector; OR four years of experience which involved the inspection, installation, repair, maintenance, or design of elevators, passenger ropeways, or other lifting devices.

If you are found ineligible and subsequently obtain proof of your credentials, you may resubmit an application with the qualifying information at any time.  A new application is required. 

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
