NATURE OF WORK
As a Juvenile Justice Facility Program Director you will plan, organize, and direct the treatment, rehabilitation and social development programs of a youth forestry camp or a separate secure-treatment facility, or serve as a program director for treatment programs at a youth development center. You will plan, develop, direct and coordinate comprehensive treatment programs with facility staff, juvenile courts, families and community services agencies and organizations.
Juvenile Justice Complex Directors plan, organize, and direct the treatment, rehabilitation and social development programs and facility operations of the Loysville Youth Development Center or the North Central Secure Treatment Unit. You will develop and implement operational policies, clinical treatment practices, and administrative procedures for the facility complex; participate in the development of overall program objectives and goals related to residential treatment and rehabilitation programs; and direct the planning, development, and coordination of comprehensive treatment programs with facility complex staff, juvenile courts, affected families and community services agencies and organizations.

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Child Protective Services Law, you will have to provide reports on your background from such sources as the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
You must pass a background investigation. After you receive a conditional offer of employment you must undergo a medical examination.
Minimum Requirements
Juvenile Justice Facility Program Director - Two years of experience as a Youth Development Counselor Supervisor; OR 1 year of experience as a Youth Development Counselor Manager; OR 3 years of professional counseling experience with delinquent, pre-delinquent or socially maladjusted youth in an organized program, which included 2 years in a supervisory capacity, and a bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences, special education, juvenile delinquency, or criminal justice; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training including 3 years of professional counseling experience with delinquent, pre-delinquent or socially maladjusted youth in an organized program, which included 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your application. A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
