NATURE OF WORK

 

Driver License District Managers direct Driver License Center supervisors in the administration of the driver license examination program in a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation district office.  Duties include ensuring all driver license processes are operating effectively and consistently in accordance with federal, State, and departmental regulations, policies, procedures and laws; identifying fraudulent documents; reviewing work schedules; handling facility-related issues; handling escalated customer service calls; administering standardized driver license examinations in emergency situations; and conducting performance appraisals.

 

Driver License Regional Managers perform similar duties as are listed above in a region of the Commonwealth.  A region comprises three districts.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed.  Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.  If after reading the requirements you are not sure you qualify, contact one of the Commission's offices listed at the end of this announcement.

 

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Conditions of Employment – Both Job Titles

No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the 5 year period immediately preceding appointment.

 

Necessary Special Requirement – Both Job Titles

Possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and 21 years of age at the time of application.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Driver License District Manager – Four years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public including 1 year of supervisory experience over customer service providers; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 1 year of supervisory experience over customer service providers.

 

Driver License Regional Manager – Five years of experience obtaining, evaluating and providing information to the public including 2 years of supervisory experience over customer service providers; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 2 years of supervisory experience over customer service providers.

Driver License District Manager positions exist only in Allegheny, Bucks, Dauphin, Monroe, Northampton, Snyder, and Venango counties.  Driver License Regional Manager positions exist only in Cambria, Dauphin, and Delaware counties.

TESTING

 

The test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

 

You will have a maximum of 2 1/2 hours to complete the test which will cover the following subject areas:

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test.  You must submit a new application to be retested.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
