NATURE OF WORK
You will conduct on-site inspections of railroad facilities for compliance with State and federal regulations and standards. You will also conduct on-site accident and complaint investigations to determine probable cause and ascertain violations and deficiencies. You will work from your home and be assigned a territory of multiple counties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Conditions of Employment
You must be able to walk in railroad yards and along tracks under train traffic conditions; able to climb onto locomotives and cars, and able to see and hear train traffic in worksite area.
Post-Employment Requirement
Passage of the appropriate Federal Railroad Administration Qualification Examination within twelve months of the date of appointment.
Necessary Special Requirement
You must have a valid driver’s license.
Minimum Requirements
Four years of railroad experience in track maintenance and safety inspections; or four years of railroad experience in locomotive and rail car maintenance and safety inspections; or four years of railroad experience in train movement, management, handling, and operating practices; OR four years of railroad experience in train movement, management, and handling of hazardous materials; OR four years of railroad experience in signal and train control maintenance and safety inspections.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your application. A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
TEST RESULTS
Employment lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
This test and scoring procedure are different from the previous test for this job title. If you have taken the test before, you may receive a different score on this test.
