The buildings are multi-story office buildings, hospitals, schools, dormitories, etc., and generally have large numbers of occupants and/or extensive floor space. You will review contract drawings, specifications, inspection methods, and safety standards to conduct on-site visual inspections of building components such as materials, fixtures, foundations, steel frame-work, masonry, floors, ceilings, interiors, exteriors, roofing, etc., to ensure adherence to approved project construction plans. You will prepare daily inspection reports and assist in determining solutions to problems encountered.
Building Construction Inspectors (Housing) perform the same duties as those working for the State except that the buildings and projects involved are single and multi-family homes and high-rise apartment buildings under the jurisdiction of local Housing Authorities.

You may be required to travel extensively and occasionally stay overnight up to 4 nights a week. Offers of employment will be made only if you are willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
