NATURE OF WORK
You will work in a veterans home operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, or a State center or mental health hospital operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. You will recruit, interview, and assign volunteers based on their interests, abilities, and related program requirements. You will develop and maintain contacts with community organizations, such as high schools, colleges, civic clubs, veterans’ organizations, and social, charitable, and religious groups. You will communicate with volunteers and the community through speeches, news releases, e-mail and print newsletters, and other media.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed. Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Services Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police, or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If you have not been a resident of Pennsylvania for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
After you receive a conditional offer of employment, you must undergo a medical examination.
Minimum Requirements
Volunteer Resources Coordinator 1 – A bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Volunteer Resources Coordinator 2 – One year of experience as a Volunteer Resources Coordinator 1; OR 1 year of professional experience in a human services program or in volunteer resources administration, which included 6 months program planning and evaluation; public relations; recruitment, selection and placement of volunteers; or the coordination of the training and staff development programs; and a bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of professional experience and training in a human services program or in volunteer resources administration, which included 6 months in program planning and evaluation; public relations; recruitment, selection and placement of volunteers; or the coordination of training and staff development programs.
Clarification of Requirements
Please make sure you meet all requirements. You may substitute related experience for the required education for both job titles. You may substitute related graduate coursework for up to 1 year of required professional experience. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted. The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs plans to hire 1 Volunteer Resources Coordinator 2 in the next 12 months.

TESTING
The test will be administered on a computer. Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
The test also will be held approximately 10 days a month at additional test centers located in Allentown, Erie, Johnstown, Lock Haven, and Scranton. TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
