NATURE OF WORK

 

You will develop, implement, and evaluate contracts, policies, procedures, and standards for forestry programs requiring aircraft to ensure the safe operation of rotary and fixed wing aircraft related to forest fire detection and suppression, pest management, wildlife surveys, and other forestry programs in the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.  You will provide oversight for aerial activities; develop and implement pilot and aircraft safety standards; and provide training to field staff and contractors in the safe operation of aircraft activities such as firefighting, timber harvesting or aerial survey.  You will also operate aircraft as needed.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You must be willing to travel to field locations throughout the Commonwealth.  Travel may be frequent and at short notice during periods of emergency.  Travel expenses will be paid.

Necessary Special Requirement

Possession of a valid Federal Aviation Administration Commercial Pilot’s license with either a single engine and/or rotary wing rating.

 

Minimum Requirement

Six years of aircraft operations experience which included 1000 hours of logged flight time, 500 hours of which were as a pilot in command and 100 hours of which were under actual or simulated instrument conditions.

TESTING

 

Your application will be evaluated to determine whether you meet the Minimum Requirement and Necessary Special Requirement.  If you meet these requirements you will receive a score.  You will receive additional credit if you have experience administering, conducting and/or developing aerial safety training.

 

You must provide your Federal Aviation Administration Commercial Pilot’s license number and expiration date in the “Licenses or Certificates” section of your Application for Employment/Promotion.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in disqualification.

 

If you take this test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your “Notice of Examination Results”.  A new application is required. 

 

If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS
