NATURE OF WORK

 

You will provide police services by protecting property, grounds, facilities, tenants, employees and the public at Fort Indiantown Gap, Lebanon County, for the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA).  Work involves investigating crimes, suspected crimes, and accidents; conducting police patrols; assisting visitors; responding to routine and emergency calls for assistance; issuing citations for vehicle code violations; writing reports of incidents and investigations; and explaining to visitors and employees the laws, rules, and regulations governing conduct at Fort Indiantown Gap.

 

Employees are sworn police officers and exercise the powers of arrest.  Work is reviewed by a superior officer or administrative superior through personal inspections and review of reports.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed.  Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.

After you receive a conditional offer of employment, you must pass a medical examination, a psychological examination, a physical ability test, and a background investigation.

 

Necessary Special Requirement

You must have a valid driverís license.

 

Minimum Requirements

Successful completion of the Municipal Police Officersí Education and Training Commission Certified Basic Police Academy (Act 120) training.

Installation Police Officers, DMVA are employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.  All positions are located in Annville (Lebanon County).  The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs expects to fill 4 full-time Installation Police Officers annually. 

 

Lists created by this test will be used to fill future part-time or full-time vacancies as they occur due to retirements, promotions, transfers, resignations and so forth.

TESTING

 

The test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office. 

 

You will have a maximum of 2 1/2 hours to complete the test which will cover the following subject areas:

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test.  You must submit a new application to be retested.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS
