NATURE OF WORK

 

You will collect and analyze data, compile and organize information, and evaluate program performance and conformance with federal regulations and departmental objectives.  You will provide technical assistance and consultative services to Area Agencies on Aging.  You will also make recommendations for the development of legislation, grants, contracts and regulations concerning programs for elderly individuals.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed.  Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Two years of professional experience in a human services program, either in a research capacity or in providing social services to clients; and a bachelor's degree in the social or behavioral sciences, public health, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional experience in a human services program, either in a research capacity or in providing social services to clients.

Positions are located in the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.  There are 17 filled positions located primarily in Harrisburg (Dauphin County).  The agency anticipates making several appointments and promotions from lists over the next 12 months.

 

Additional opportunities may occur due to normal turnover from retirements, promotions, transfers, resignations and so forth.

 

Employment preference will be granted to individuals aged 60 and over for jobs with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.

TESTING

 

The test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
