NATURE OF WORK

 

You will direct and coordinate the administration of psychiatric and medical services in a state mental health hospital, participate in the formulation of treatment and administrative procedures for hospital clinical services, participate in the recruitment and selection of clinical services staff, prepare reports, and provide administrative coordination of training and other hospital programs.  Work also includes participating with the hospital superintendent or deputy superintendent in formulating and implementing administrative procedures, rules and regulations; directing psychiatric, medical and nursing staff; acting as a consultant on unusual or difficult cases; and representing the hospital at meetings pertaining to clinical services and hospital programs.

You must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for this job title.

 

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Service Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you.  If you are not currently a Pennsylvania resident, or if you are currently a Pennsylvania resident and have not been a resident for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

 

Necessary Special Requirement

Possession of a current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania issued by the State Board of Medicine or the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

 

Minimum Requirements

Three years of experience in the administration of a major clinical services program in the psychiatric or medical care and treatment of individuals with mental illness, in a psychiatric hospital, community psychiatric program, forensic treatment center or similar setting; and certification in psychiatry or other recognized medical specialty by the American Medical Board or American Osteopathic Board; OR three years of experience in the supervision of licensed physicians in a major clinical services program in the psychiatric or medical care and treatment of individuals with mental illness, in a psychiatric hospital, community psychiatric program, forensic treatment center or similar setting; and certification in psychiatry or other recognized medical specialty by the American Medical Board or American Osteopathic Board.

If you are found ineligible, you may reapply when you meet the Necessary Special Requirement and Minimum Experience and Training Requirements.  A new application is required. 

 

TEST RESULTS
