NATURE OF WORK

 

Vocational Adjustment Services Supervisors - You will supervise Vocational Adjustment Services Workers and plan and organize the delivery of vocational adjustment services to individuals.  You will direct the design, implementation, and evaluation of vocational adjustment programs, which include assessing individuals’ functioning levels, strengths and needs; formulating vocational adjustment segments of comprehensive individual program plans; and presenting treatment/habilitative methods to an interdisciplinary team.

 

Therapeutic Recreational Services Supervisors – You will supervise Therapeutic Recreational Services Workers and plan and organize the delivery of therapeutic recreational services to individuals.  You will direct the design, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic recreation programs, which include assessing individuals’ functioning levels, strengths and needs; formulating therapeutic recreation segments of comprehensive individual program plans; and presenting treatment/habilitative methods to an interdisciplinary team.

 

Therapeutic Activities Services Supervisors – You will supervise Therapeutic Activities Services Workers and plan and organize the delivery of therapeutic activities services to individuals.  You will direct the design, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic activities programs which combine various aspects of therapeutic recreation, occupational therapy, or vocational adjustment services.  This includes directing the assessment of individuals’ functioning levels, strengths and needs; formulating therapeutic activities segments of individual program plans; and presenting treatment/habilitative methods to an interdisciplinary team.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed.  Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.

If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Services Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police, or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you.  If you have not been a resident of Pennsylvania for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

 

After you receive a conditional offer of employment you must undergo a medical examination.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Vocational Adjustment Services Supervisor - One year as a Vocational Adjustment Services Worker; OR 2 years of professional experience in the field of vocational adjustment services and graduation from a 4 year college or university with major coursework in vocational rehabilitation, vocational education or counseling, or a related human services field; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Therapeutic Recreational Services Supervisor - One year as a Therapeutic Recreational Services Worker; OR 2 years of professional experience in the field of therapeutic recreation; and graduation from a 4 year college or university with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; art, music or dance therapy; or a related human services field; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Therapeutic Recreational Services Supervisor - There are currently 13 filled positions.  The majority of positions are in the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare at State Hospitals and Centers.  The remaining positions are located at facilities operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.  There are currently 5 vacancies.

TESTING

 

The test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.
