NATURE OF WORK

 

You will assist the Environmental Emergency Response Manager in the operation of the regional emergency response program for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.  You will dispatch emergency response team members to incidents; coordinate response activities with first responders, the EPA, and other agencies; plan and participate in hazardous material exercises; determine equipment and supply needs; and implement and monitor emergency cleanup contracts and contractors.  You may ensure proper maintenance and calibration of equipment, provide emergency response and health and safety training, and provide logistical and communications support to internal and external responding agencies.

Minimum Requirements

A bachelorís degree in an engineering or scientific field related to environmental protection, and two years of professional environmental protection experience, including one year as a regional emergency response team member; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year as a regional emergency response team member.
