NATURE OF WORK
You will plan, organize and direct the operations of Correctional Industries producing goods or providing services for customers, including local and state government, and non-profit organizations. This involves operational and strategic plant management, fiscal analysis and planning, administration, and safety. You will select inmate workers for vocational training and manufacturing work, and participate in the selection of staff.
Correctional Industries Managers 2 are responsible for multiple industries or locations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
You must pass a background investigation. After you receive a conditional offer of employment, you must undergo a medical examination.
If you are not a current employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, you must attend and complete a 3-week basic training program at the Department of Corrections' Central Training Academy in Elizabethtown, PA, which is located in Lancaster County.
Minimum Requirements
Correctional Industries Manager 1
One year of experience as a Corrections Factory Supervisor; OR six years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation, including two years of supervisory experience; OR a master’s degree with major coursework in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, or industrial education, or related area and one year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training, including two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation. Formal study at a college or university with major coursework in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, industrial education, or related training may be substituted for non-supervisory experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.
Correctional Industries Manager 2
One year of experience as a Correctional Industries Manager 1; OR seven years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation, including three years of supervisory experience; OR a master’s degree with major coursework in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, industrial education, or related area and two years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training, including three years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation. Formal study at a college or university with major coursework in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, industrial education, or related training may be substituted for non-supervisory experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.
Clarification of Requirements
You may substitute related education for the required non-supervisory experience. There is no substitution for the required supervisory experience. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

There is currently 1 vacant Correctional Industries Manager 1 position at State Correctional Institution-Rockview (Centre County), and 1 vacant Correctional Industries Manager 2 position (location to be determined). Additionally, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections anticipates making approximately 2 appointments and promotions from lists to Correctional Industries Manager 1, and 3 to Correctional Industries Manager 2. Also, 2 appointments or promotions from lists are anticipated in the future.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after six months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results." A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
This test is different from previous tests for these job titles. If you have taken the test before, you may get a different score on this test.
