NATURE OF WORK
You will supervise staff involved in determining retirement benefit payments, processing retirement applications, maintaining retirement accounts, and communicating benefits information to members.

Minimum Requirements
One year of experience as a Retirement Technician; OR an Associate Degree and one year of technical experience in a pension system or related occupational area applying mathematical formulas and principles: OR three years of experience in technical work in a pension system or related occupational area, which includes two years of experience applying mathematical formulas and principles; OR an equivalent combination of education, experience and training which includes two years of experience applying mathematical formulas and principles in a pension system or related occupational area.
Clarification of Requirements
You may substitute related education for the required experience. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.
Experience processing or training others to process benefits such as unemployment, health/life insurance, welfare, social security, disability, workers’ compensation, etc. is also acceptable for this job title.
Undergraduate training with major coursework in mathematics, statistics, accounting or finance may be substituted for the specialized experience (applying mathematical formulas and principles in a pension system or related occupational area). Applicants who have completed at least 90 credits with major coursework in these areas will meet the three year equivalent combination of experience and training option.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results." A new application and application supplement is required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
