NATURE OF WORK
You will provide technical assistance and advice to state agencies and county organizations regarding planning, developing, reviewing, evaluating, and implementing radio and microwave telecommunications systems, equipment, facilities and services. Duties include needs analysis, and the development of design criteria and specifications for the purchase and/or lease of radio telecommunications systems, equipment and services. The work also involves contact with vendors of radio telecommunications equipment and services. Radio Telecommunications Specialists 1 assignments are primarily operational, involving maintenance and upgrading of existing systems. Work is reviewed through periodic reports to administrative supervisors. Radio Telecommunications Specialists 2 normally work in agency central offices. Assignments are oriented to planning, developing, and implementing new telecommunication systems.

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum Requirements
Radio Telecommunications Specialist 1
Four years of experience in radio, microwave or related telecommunications which includes 1 year in system design or configuration and 3 years of general telecommunications experience involving the installation, repair or maintenance of large commercial and/or governmental systems, or systems engineering analysis with a public utility, governmental agency or private company.
Radio Telecommunications Specialist 2
One year of experience as a Radio Telecommunications Specialist 1; OR 5 years of experience in radio, microwave or related telecommunications which includes 2 years in system design or configuration and 3 years of general telecommunications experience involving the installation, repair or maintenance of large commercial and/or governmental systems, or systems engineering analysis with a public utility, governmental agency or private company.
Both Job Titles
Post-high school training in telecommunications technology, radio communications, or electronics with emphasis in radio or microwave telecommunications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of general telecommunications experience.

The Pennsylvania State Police currently has four filled Radio Telecommunications Specialist 2 jobs located in Dauphin County.
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Pennsylvania State Police each expect to fill 1 new Radio Telecommunications Specialist 2 job as a result of this examination program. All of these positions will be in Dauphin County.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results." A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
These lists will replace any previous lists.
This test and scoring procedure is different from previous tests for these job titles. If you have taken the test before, you may receive a different score on this test.
