If you successfully complete the internship and obtain your graduate degree, you may then serve an additional 2 months as an Intern to complete your probationary period, and be promoted to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 1 with an increase in salary.

NATURE OF WORK

 

This is professional training in a structured internship program in which you are expected to acquire knowledge and experience in the areas of federal law and regulation concerning vocational rehabilitation services, state policy and procedure, and counseling and case management.  You will be supervised by a Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor who will evaluate how well you provide case services to customers with disabilities.  You may be able to receive academic credit for completion of the internship program.

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for this job title.

 

Necessary Special Requirement

At the time you apply, you must have authorization by your college or university to participate in the Commonwealth’s Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Intern Program.  At the time you start the internship, you must be enrolled in the final semester of the appropriate master’s degree program.

 

Minimum Requirement

At the time you apply, you must be enrolled in the final year of a master’s degree program in rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation education, or rehabilitation administration.

TESTING

Your application and participation form Application Supplement 2010-011-1 will be evaluated to determine if you meet the Minimum Requirement and Necessary Special Requirement.  If you meet this requirement you will receive a score.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application or disqualification.

 

If you were previously determined to be ineligible and now meet the job requirements, you may reapply during the term of this announcement by submitting a new application and supplement.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
