NATURE OF WORK

 

You will perform actuarial analyses of insurance rates, rating procedures, rating plans and schedules of insurance companies.  You will review and analyze insurance operations, reserves and underwriting procedures, and provide technical assistance on actuarial matters to Insurance Policy Examiners and other staff.  Insurance Actuaries at the 2 level are assigned more complex rate filings.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for these job titles.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Life and Health Insurance Actuary 1

Successful completion of four parts of the Society of Actuaries actuarial examination program; OR 3 years of actuarial experience in life and/or accident and health insurance; and a bachelor's degree with major coursework in mathematics or statistics; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Life and Health Insurance Actuary 2

One year of experience as a Life and Health Insurance Actuary 1; OR successful completion of five parts of the Society of Actuaries examination program; OR 4 years of actuarial work in the life and/or accident and health insurance field; and a bachelor's degree with major coursework in mathematics or statistics; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Property and Casualty Insurance Actuary 1

Successful completion of four parts of the Casualty Actuarial Society examination program; OR 3 years of actuarial experience in property and casualty insurance; and a bachelor's degree with major coursework in mathematics or statistics; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Property and Casualty Insurance Actuary 2

One year of experience as a Property and Casualty Insurance Actuary 1; OR successful completion of five parts of the Casualty Actuarial Society examination program; OR 4 years of property and/or casualty actuarial experience; and a bachelor's degree with major coursework in mathematics or statistics; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.
