NATURE OF WORK

 

As a Career and Technical Education Services Manager you will manage, direct, plan and implement career and technical education services programs; develop policies, procedures, plans and standards for major programs with statewide impact; direct and oversee the allocation and disbursement of funds to program areas; establish goals; and coordinate, direct and supervise the activities of professional, technical and clerical staff involved in the development and implementation of standards, guidelines and related program services.  You will also organize and chair task forces, serve on committees, and prepare and conduct formal presentations; prepare recommendations on the impact of proposed legislation; and prepare letters, news releases and other correspondence.

 

As a Career and Technical Education Advisor you will perform responsible professional work providing both specialized and broad advisory services to local and regional training agencies, local education agencies and intermediate units in the development, improvement and expansion of career and technical education programs, services and activities.  You will provide teachers, administrators and others with information to comply with federal laws and regulations and state standards and guidelines; and provide consultative services in one or more of the specialty areas, special populations, or other federal and state initiatives.  You will evaluate grant proposals to develop, improve or expand career and technical education programs; conduct on-site reviews of programs to ensure compliance with established regulations and guidelines; develop, organize and conduct conferences, symposia and workshops; and encourage and support student organizations.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

Career and Technical Education Services Manager – One year as a Career and Technical Educational Services Supervisor; OR one year as a Career and Technical Education Advisor 2; OR one year as a Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor 2; OR six years of professional experience in the field of career and technical education which included two years of experience in the development or implementation of career and technical education curricula or programs and which included two years of supervisory or administrative experience.

 

Career and Technical Education Advisor 1 – Four years of professional experience in the field of career and technical education, including one year of experience in the development and implementation of career and technical education curricula or programs; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Career and Technical Education Advisor 2 – One year as a Career and Technical Education Advisor 1; OR five years of professional career and technical education experience including two years in the development and implementation of career and technical education curricula or programs; OR an equivalent combination of professional career and technical education experience and training, which includes two years in the development and implementation of career and technical education curricula or programs.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results."  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
