VETERANS:  Pennsylvania law (51 Pa.C.S. §7103) provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs.  To learn more about employment preferences and opportunities for veterans, visit the Commission’s website www.scsc.state.pa.us; visit one of our offices; or call our veterans information line, (717) 787-6039.

NATURE OF WORK

Park Manager Trainee - You will participate in on-the-job and formal training programs designed to instruct you on how to direct the operation, maintenance, and recreational activities of a state park.  Initially, you will work with experienced Park Managers.  Assignments are detailed and are reviewed while in progress and upon completion.  As you demonstrate proficiency, assignments will increase in scope, variety, and complexity; instructions and the review of the work decrease.  Work is characterized by constant public contact to exchange information and to obtain compliance with park rules and regulations.  After successful completion of 1 year as a Park Manager Trainee, you will be promoted to a Park Manager 1.

Park Manager 1 - You will direct the activities of a small state park, including the administration, operation and maintenance of the physical plant, visitor services and safety, and environmental education.  You will be in constant public contact to exchange information and to obtain compliance with park rules and regulations.  Work is assigned in the form of desired goals and objectives and is reviewed upon completion by a professional superior for attainment of goals and objectives, completeness, and quality.
