NATURE OF WORK
You will perform independent aviation safety inspections and investigations within an assigned geographical region. Work involves the inspection of proposed and operating general aviation and personal-use airports and heliports for conformance with state and federal aviation standards, and violations of state and federal aviation laws, rules, and regulations. You will also gather, analyze, and disseminate information pertaining to sound aviation safety standards by assessing topographical, atmospheric and structural factors and conditions which contribute to law violations, accidents and hazardous conditions; advise airport managers on airport improvement and current aviation safety practices; and advise pilots on aviation safety practices and techniques. Work also includes attending Airport Authority planning and zoning meetings, conducting public hearings, reviewing grant applications, evaluating new tower proposals, providing liaison with Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), coordinating with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), recommending suspension of aviation and airport licenses, approving airport construction and licensure, reviewing records, preparing reports of findings, and conducting special projects/studies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum Requirements
Accredited Airport Executive certified by the American Association of Airport Executives; OR four years experience as a Commercial Pilot or Flight Instructor; OR an equivalent combination of experience or training.
Clarification of Requirements
You may substitute related education or experience as a military pilot for the required experience. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
