NATURE OF WORK
Licensed Psychologist – You will provide direct clinical services to clients and may serve as a treatment team member. Your work will include diagnosing clients’ needs; planning, developing and implementing therapies; and evaluating progress. You may supervise Psychological Services Associates, students, interns or paraprofessional staff.
Licensed Psychologist Manager and Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections – You will supervise a psychological services staff and may be responsible for coordinating a segment of a psychological services program within a state facility. You may direct a small psychology department or supervise Psychologists, Psychological Services Associates and other professional and paraprofessional staff.
Licensed Psychologist Director and Licensed Psychologist Director, Corrections – You will plan, organize and direct a program providing psychological services within a state facility to clients or inmates. Supervision is exercised over a staff of professional and technical personnel.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Pennsylvania residency is currently waived for these job titles.
If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Child Protective Services Law, you will have to provide reports on your background, at your own expense, from such sources as the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. If you are not a Pennsylvania resident, you must also obtain a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
If you are a final candidate for a position covered by the Older Adults Protective Service Act, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information, at your own expense, from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If you are not currently a Pennsylvania resident, or if you are currently a Pennsylvania resident and have not been a resident for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information, at your own expense, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
You must pass a background investigation.
After you receive a conditional offer of employment you must undergo a medical examination.
If you are hired by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Licensed Psychologists and Licensed Psychologist Managers must attend and complete a 3 week basic training program at the Department of Corrections Central Training Academy in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County. Licensed Psychologist Directors must attend and complete a 2 week basic training at the same location.
Necessary Special Requirements
Licensed Psychologist
Possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology.
Licensed Psychologist Manager and Director, Licensed Psychologist Manager and Director, Corrections
You must possess a current license to practice psychology issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or a current license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. (Pennsylvania licensure must be obtained within 1 year of employment.)

Minimum Requirements
Licensed Psychologist Manager and Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections
One year as a Psychologist or a Licensed Psychologist - Mental Health; OR 1 year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, mental retardation or behavioral dysfunction.
Licensed Psychologist Director and Licensed Psychologist Director, Corrections
One year as a Licensed Psychologist Manager or Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections OR 2 years as a Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist - Mental Health, 1 year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; OR 2 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness or mental retardation, 1 year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your application. A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
