NATURE OF WORK
As an Educational Associate 1 you will conduct research and evaluation studies of educational programs and issues. You will conduct literature searches, confer with other professionals in the field, determine the variables to be analyzed, determine the appropriate sampling techniques and the statistical methods to be used, and analyze findings. Work also includes designing and generating comprehensive reports containing tables, charts, graphs, conclusions and recommendations; and speaking to policymakers, educational administrators, colleagues, teachers and others to explain the results, make recommendations, answer questions and address concerns.
An Educational Research Associate 2 receives more complex assignments and works independently in conducting research and evaluation studies, analyzing the findings, and preparing recommendations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Research Associate 1 - Three years of professional educational research experience involving the performance of descriptive research; OR three years of professional research experience and one graduate level course each in research methodology, sampling and survey techniques, and educational psychology; and two graduate level courses each in statistics, statistical analysis, and educational measurement; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Educational Research Associate 2 - One year as an Educational Research Associate 1; OR four years of professional educational research experience, involving the performance of descriptive research; OR four years of professional research experience; and two graduate level courses each in research methodology, sampling and survey techniques, statistics, advanced statistical analysis (i.e., multi-variable analysis, factor analysis, path analysis, latent trait or rash modeling), and educational psychology/measurement; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Clarification of Requirements
You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

There are currently 2 filled Educational Research Associate 1 positions and 4 filled Education Research Associate 2 positions. The PDE typically fills 1 position for each title annually.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your “Application”. A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
