NATURE OF WORK

 

Criminal Justice System Planners 1 review criminal/juvenile justice and victim service-related plans, concept papers and applications for financial assistance, and make recommendations for appropriate action; coordinate and provide training and technical assistance to local criminal/juvenile justice and victim service-related projects; review, analyze, and record data on local projects; conduct assessments of local project responsiveness to contract provisions; and prepare studies and background reports on various topics such as crime prevention, juvenile justice, victim services, intermediate punishments, and criminal justice system improvements.

 

Criminal Justice System Planners 2 receive more complex assignments and work with a greater degree of independence than employees at the 1 level.

For some jobs, offers of employment will be made only if you are willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Criminal Justice System Planner 1

One year of professional criminal justice planning or criminal justice training experience and a bachelor’s degree.  A master’s degree in one of the criminal justice disciplines may be substituted for the required experience; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Criminal Justice System Planner 2

One year of experience as a Criminal Justice System Planner 1; OR 2 years of professional criminal justice planning or criminal justice training experience and a bachelor’s degree.  A master’s degree in one of the criminal justice disciplines may be substituted for 1 year of the required experience; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Clarification of Requirements

You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.  Acceptable criminal justice experience may include experience in victim services or juvenile justice.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your “Application”.  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
