NATURE OF WORK
You will enforce Commonwealth laws, rules and regulations associated with a wide variety of agronomic products which include pesticides, animal feeds, pet foods, fertilizers, lime, soil conditioners, crop or garden seeds, or other products used for agricultural purposes. You will inspect manufacturing plants, distribution points, and wholesale and retail outlets for compliance with Commonwealth laws; collect samples of pesticides, seeds, feeds, fertilizers and lime for analysis; check labels for adherence to applicable laws; administer pesticide certification tests; and investigate misuse of pesticide, and consumer complaints.

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Necessary Special Requirement
You must have a valid driver’s license.
Minimum Requirements
Two years of experience in the inspection of agronomic products and a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences or biological sciences or in a closely related field; OR Four years of experience in the inspection of agronomic products and an associate’s degree in agricultural sciences or biological sciences or in a closely related field; OR An equivalent combination of experience and training. Appropriate graduate level training may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Clarification of Requirements
You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

If hired, you will work from your home, and report to one of the following 7 regional offices: Gibsonia (Allegheny County); Altoona (Blair County); Meadville (Crawford County); Harrisburg (Dauphin County); Montoursville (Lycoming County); Collegeville (Montgomery County) and Tunkhannock (Wyoming County).
There are 2-3 positions filled annually.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your “Application.” A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
