NATURE OF WORK

 

You will provide consultative and technical assistance to officials involved in deciding the appropriate program or facility placement to meet the rehabilitation needs of adjudicated youth.  You will provide technical assistance through consultation with juvenile court judges, probation officers, attorneys, and placement facility personnel in a wide range of professional and administrative matters, such as policy interpretation, intake, placement and release procedures, and case management services.  Work is generally performed in an assigned geographical area, with a high degree of independence under the general direction of a Court Liaison Program Supervisor.

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

All of the positions in this job title come under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.  If you are a final candidate for one of these positions, you will have to provide reports on your background, at your own expense, from such sources as the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.  If your background is unacceptable, you will be disqualified for employment in such positions.  You will receive information about these requirements and how to obtain the required reports at the time you are being considered for employment.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Three years of experience working with juveniles, including one year of counseling experience in the area of rehabilitation of delinquent juveniles; and a bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Clarification of Requirements

 

You may substitute related graduate education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years, for the required general experience working with juveniles.  You may not substitute graduate level coursework for the required one year of counseling experience in the rehabilitation of delinquent juveniles.  Appropriate experience may be substituted for the required education.  Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your application.  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

TEST RESULTS
