NATURE OF WORK

 

You will assist professional staff in sample collection and the preliminary review of permits.  This includes performing administrative completeness reviews of permits to ensure all necessary attachments are included, correct fee amounts have been submitted, and all data fields are completed.  You will also review the information in the attachments and data fields in order to determine whether the information is technically acceptable.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed.  Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.

 

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

Necessary Special Requirement

You must have a valid driverís license.

 

Minimum Requirements

An associateís degree in engineering technology, computer aided drafting and design, surveying or in any other appropriate technical field; OR two years of technical experience in environmental engineering, drafting, surveying and/or construction; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Clarification of Requirements

Acceptable associateís and advanced level degrees include:  engineering mechanics, architectural, structural, contracting, building construction, electrical, and electronics engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, mineral science and geology.

You may take the test if you have completed 45 or more credit hours and expect to receive an associateís degree within the next 7 months.  You must provide proof of your degree before you start work.

Positions are located in the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).  DEP plans to fill positions in Environmental Protection Regional Offices located in the following counties:  Allegheny, Crawford, Dauphin, Luzerne, Lycoming, and Montgomery.  The number of hires and their locations will depend on the needs of the Department and the availability of funds. 

 

Lists created by this test will be used to fill future vacancies as they occur due to retirements, promotions, transfers, resignations and so forth.

TESTING

 

The test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your test.  You must submit a new application to be retested.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
