NATURE OF WORK

 

You will manage the premium wine product inventory of a Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) retail store by analyzing product performance, ordering premium products based on customer expectations, and ensuring correct labeling and pricing.  You will speak to customers in order to determine their needs, and recommend premium product options to meet those needs.  You will research premium product information for customers and identify appropriate food and wine pairings.  You will train employees in wine knowledge, sales, and merchandising.  You will produce signage and ensure that items are adequately stocked and effectively displayed.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Your background will be checked.  If you have been convicted of a felony within the last 10 years, you cannot work for the PLCB.  If you have other criminal convictions, they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine if they are job related.  If they are, you may not be appointed or could be removed from the position.

 

Minimum Requirements

Three years of retail experience in a PLCB liquor store and completion of the PLCB’s Advanced Level Wine Education; OR 4 years of wholesale or retail experience in the sale of wine that includes experience in stock handling and inventory control, merchandising, and marketing; OR 4 years of wholesale or retail marketing, selling, and managing wine inventory and storage in the hospitality, restaurant, or food and beverage industries; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

TESTING

 

You will be rated on your experience and training.  Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.

 

You must provide complete and accurate information.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.

 

If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your application.  A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.

 

If your name is on an eligible list for this job title and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
