NATURE OF WORK

 

You will conduct staff inspections involving parolee caseloads in field and institutional supervision units to assess compliance with standards and procedures.  You will independently conduct on-site audits that involve analyzing, evaluating, and reporting on improvement methods to attain and maintain compliance, and recommending corrective actions.  You will also conduct audits of Community Correction Centers and Contract Facilities.  You will recommend revisions to operational procedures to ensure compliance with American Correctional Association standards and case law.

 

Parole Auditor Supervisors also supervise Parole Auditors and technical and clerical staff.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You must be willing to travel.  Travel expenses will be paid.

Necessary Special Requirement

You must have a valid driverís license.

 

Minimum Requirements

Parole Auditor: Two years of professional experience in casework, counseling or investigations in a probation or parole environment, and a bachelorís degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training including two years of professional experience in casework, counseling or investigations in a probation or parole environment.

 

Parole Auditor Supervisor: One year of experience as a Parole Auditor; OR three years of professional experience in casework, counseling or investigations in a probation or parole environment including one year of experience auditing probation or parole offender caseloads for compliance with program standards, and a bachelorís degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training including three years of professional experience in casework, counseling or investigations in a probation or parole environment including one year of experience auditing probation or parole offender caseloads for compliance with program standards.

TESTING

 

The work simulation test involves reviewing and analyzing simulated Board of Probation and Parole case records, scenarios and reports, and preparing responses to questions.   The tests for Parole Auditor and Parole Auditor Supervisor measure knowledge of casework principles and practices in probation and parole, knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of investigations in probation and parole, knowledge of interview techniques, ability to interpret and analyze written material, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and ability to communicate in writing.  The test for Parole Auditor consists of six questions and the test for Parole Auditor Supervisor consists of eight questions.  Your responses will be evaluated by a rating board at a later date.

 

After your eligibility is determined you will receive notification to schedule yourself for testing.  You will then be able to schedule your test date and time on the State Civil Service Commissionís website at www.scsc.state.pa.us.

 

You will have a maximum of 2 Ĺ hours to complete the test.  You will be required to enter and save your responses to each question on a computer.

 

The test will be administered in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh State Civil Service Commission offices, Monday through Friday.

You may take the test once under this announcement.  You may not reapply until another examination is announced.

 

If you are unable to take the test on the date scheduled, you may reschedule; however, you must take the test no later than September 20, 2014.

 

If this announcement does not produce enough names for a specific area, another test may be announced for that area only.

 

TEST RESULTS
