Job Locations

·         Positions located in 28 city and 52 county Housing Authorities throughout the State

·         No current positions or expected job openings in the cities of Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, or in the counties of Cameron, Forest, Montgomery, Perry and Pike

·         Examinations will be opened for application only after a Housing Authority has issued a Recruitment Bulletin and local advertisement for a vacancy

·         Employment and promotion preference may be given to residents of the city or county where the jobs are located

·         Employment and promotion lists will be established. Normal turnover may create additional job openings

·         Must be willing to travel for some jobs.  Travel expenses will be paid

·         Must be willing to reside in the Pennsylvania city or county where the job is located

Job Duties

·         Deputy Executive Directors assist Executive Director to plan, coordinate and direct program and staff activities, and supervise professional and support staff in daily administration of a Housing Authority

·         Executive Directors plan, organize and coordinate all phases of a Housing Authority program, develop and interpret administrative policies, procedures, and regulations that govern a Housing Authority, and supervise professional, administrative and technical staff

·         Must meet PA residency requirement unless PA residency has been waived.  See the Recruitment Bulletin issued by the Housing Authority that has the vacancy

·         Testing occurs after qualification review.  Must meet requirements to receive score

·         Must be able to perform essential job functions

Examination Information

·         1 hr. study period followed by 45 min. maximum oral examination before an examination rating Board.  You will address office in-basket or electronic in-box scenarios that include typical challenges managers encounter and are expected to address

·         May retest 12 months after date of last exam

·         Written notice of test results provided

·         Only most recent exam score is counted
