NATURE OF WORK
As a Wildlife Biologist 1, you will perform professional wildlife management work in the scientific study of bird and mammal populations for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. You will conduct field and laboratory studies of the life history, ecology, population and habitat of birds and mammals; prepare wildlife habitat management plans for landowners and develop habitat prescriptions; report findings and make recommendations for improving or controlling conditions which affect the statewide wildlife management program; and provide information to farmers, conservation groups and other interested parties.
As a Wildlife Biologist 2, you will perform advanced professional wildlife management work in the scientific study of bird and mammal populations and their habitats. You will design and conduct field laboratory studies of the life history, ecology, population and habitat of birds and mammals; compile and analyze data using statistical software; and report findings and make recommendations for improving or controlling conditions which affect the statewide wildlife management program. You will provide information orally to hunters, professional organizations, conservation groups, landowners and other interested parties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Necessary Special Requirement
You must have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
Minimum Requirements
Wildlife Biologist 1 – A master’s degree with a major in Wildlife Management; OR a bachelor’s degree with a major in Wildlife Management, and two years experience in wildlife management research.
Wildlife Biologist 2 – One year as a Wildlife Biologist 1; OR a master’s degree with a major in Wildlife Management and one year of experience as a wildlife biologist; OR a bachelor’s degree with a major in Wildlife Management, and a minimum of three years experience in wildlife management research.
Clarification of Requirements
College majors with at least 24 credits in any one or combination of the following areas are considered equivalent to Wildlife Management: Animal Behavior, Dendrology, Ecology, Entomology, Genetics, Habitat Analysis, Mammalogy, Ornithology, Plant Systematics, or Wildlife Population Analysis.

TESTING
You will be rated on your experience and training. Your score will be based on information you report on your application and application supplement.
You must provide complete and accurate information. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application, or result in a lower-than-deserved score or disqualification.
If you take the test and want to take it again, you may be retested after 6 months from the date of your "Notice of Examination Results." A new application and application supplement are required for a retest.
If your name is on an eligible list for these job titles and you take this test, your most recent examination result will be the only one counted.
TEST RESULTS
Employment and promotion lists will be established. You will be notified in writing of your test results.
