  What TIMS means to Teachers.

Teachers can monitor the status of currently held certificates or submit an application for certification online, and monitor the progress of the application through his/her dashboard. It will provide the ability to submit:
  • An application for a credential
  • Education information and send to educational institution (college/university) for verification online
  • Work experience information and send to educational institution (LEA) online
  • Payment of fee online through credit card
  • Communications between the PDE and the applicant through the system
  • Changes or updates to educator information (name changes, addresses, e-mail addresses, etc.)

Once approved, TIMS will generate the credentials electronically for printing or download by the applicant, as paper certificates will no longer be issued.


What TIMS Means for School Administration.

School administrators can monitor the status of currently held certificates of their staff or submit an application for an Emergency Permit online, and monitor the progress of the application through his/her dashboard. TIMS will allow the school to manage the various role assignments for completion of tasks within the system. The roles for schools include chief school administrator, certifying officers, human resource staff or faculty/supervisory staff, who, based on their role will be able to submit:

  • Application for a Emergency Permit online
  • Verification of¬†education information related to the application submitted by an applicant online
  • Verification of work experience information as identified in PIMS or by applicant (called affirmation)
  • Payment of fee online through credit card, subsidy account or "pay later" (for day-to-day Emergency Permits)
  • Verification of Emergency Permit details completed by certifying officer sent to Chief School Administrator for affidavit to submit to PDE
  • Search for available candidates holding a specific certification to recruit to fill vacancies
  • Communications between the PDE and the school administrators, certifying officers, human resource staff or faculty/supervisory staff through the system

Once approved, TIMS will generate the credentials electronically for printing or download by the school, as paper certificates will no longer be issued.

What TIMS Means to College Students Entering the Education Profession.

College students or candidates entering a educator preparation program can monitor the status of currently held certificates or submit an application for certification online, and monitor the progress of the application through his/her dashboard. It will provide the ability to submit:

  • An application for a credential or enrollment verification by educational institution.
  • Education information and send to educational institution (college/university) for verification of program completion online.
  • Once a program is completed, the educational institution can recommend the candidate for certification online.
  • Payment of fee online through credit card.
  • Communications between the PDE and the applicant through the system.
  • Changes or updates to educator information (name changes, addresses, e-mail addresses, etc

What TIMS Means for College, Universities and Other Educator Preparation Programs

Colleges, universities and other educator preparation programs can monitor the status of currently held certificates or applications for certification of their students/educator preparation candidates, through the web, and monitor the applications awaiting action through his/her dashboard. TIMS will allow the college, university or other educator preparation program to manage the various role assignments for completion of tasks within the system. The roles for schools include Dean or Chair of Education, certifying officers or faculty/supervisory staff, who, based on their role will be able to submit:

  • Verification of education information related to the application and an educator preparation program submitted by an applicant online
  • Verification of candidate enrollment, student teaching completion and program completion in their educator preparation program (called affirmation)
  • Recommendation of candidates for certification online
  • Communications between the PDE and Deans and Chairs, certifying officers, and/or faculty/supervisory staff through the system

The system will allow educator preparation program certifying officers to view a list of tests successfully completed by the applicant, for recommendation purposes, as well as allow Vocational Instructional educator preparation programs to verify the successful completion of the required Occupational Competency Assessments. Branch campuses of institutions may provide input to the system and then forward to the main campus for verification and submission to PDE.
