Steve Irwin joined the Commission in 2006. He is a partner in the Pittsburgh law firm of Leech Tishman Fuscaldo & Lampl, LLC, and sits on the firm’s management committee. He previously served as legislative assistant to U. S. Senator Arlen Specter and as law clerk to Judge Joseph F. Weis, Jr., of the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals, which sits in Philadelphia. 

Irwin holds degrees from Harvard and the Georgetown University Law Center. He has lectured and published on a variety of legal subjects as well as taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh. 

Active in Pittsburgh civic affairs, Irwin formerly served as chairman of the Pittsburgh Parking Authority and as the Pittsburgh representative to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission. He is chairman of the Pittsburgh Council of the Anti-Defamation League and past president of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh where he remains on its board. He also is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the United Jewish Federation, chairing its Community and Public Affairs Council. A competitive masters oarsman at the national and international levels, he is chairman of the Stewards of the Head of the Ohio, one of the nation’s largest single-day regattas. 

He and his wife, Andi, live in the Pittsburgh area and have three children.
