Registration of Charitable Organizations

When you are asked to make donations to charitable organizations you may call the Department of State, Bureau of Charitable Organizations toll free at 1-800-732-0999 to obtain valuable information to help you make better, more informed decisions.

Staff will quickly verify for you that the organizations are legitimate, registered charities, authorized to solicit contributions. In addition, you may also get information on how much income the organizations receive from donations; and how much they spend on program services compared to administration and fundraising.

Filing a Complaint:

You may also call toll free at 1-800-732-0999 to file a complaint about a charitable organization that has solicited donations from you.
