Resource Center Steering Committee

In 2008, the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Committee established the Resource Center Steering Committee. The purpose of the committee is to support the proliferation and sustainability of high quality and effective juvenile justice intervention and delinquency prevention programs throughout Pennsylvania by influencing policy and practice at the state and local level. The committee has oversight of the Resource Center for Evidence-Based Prevention and Intervention Programs and Practices, which was also created in 2008. Funding for the Resource Center is provided by the PA Department of Public Welfare, Office of Children Youth and Families and PCCD.

The Resource Center is a collaborative effort that includes the Department of Public Welfare, Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission, Pennsylvania Council of Chief Juvenile Probation Officers, the Departments of Education and Health, as well as grantees and community-based and residential service providers. PCCD will manage the operations of the Center in conjunction with Pennsylvania’s State Advisory Group, the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Committee.

The Resource Center has three components:

  • Support for quality implementation of established evidence-based program models
  • Support for incorporating research-based principles and practices in existing local juvenile justice programs
  • Support for community planning and implementation of evidence-based prevention program models

The Resource Center Steering Committee is currently working on several key objectives. Its members will be responsible for coordinating funding and implementation across state agencies, and coordinating training and technical assistance to be used by those providers utilizing state funds for implementation. Other areas of focus will have the committee working to identify statewide program gaps and developing strategies to address them. To assist with this work, the Resource Center Steering Committee will establish task-specific workgroups as needed.
