Pennsylvania to Host
‘Broadband Summit’ this Fall

The state will host the 2010 Pennsylvania Broadband Summit this fall to move closer toward the goal of making high-capacity, affordable, reliable and sustainable broadband services available for all residents, businesses and institutions.

The Summit takes place Sept. 20 - 21 at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center in Camp Hill, Cumberland County.  To register or learn more, visit www.outreach.psu.edu/programs/pa-broadband.

The free event will explore practical applications of broadband technology, potential solutions to challenges related to access and adoption, as well as details of the state and national broadband plans.

High-speed Internet access is fast becoming an economic, educational, and social necessity.  Communities and businesses that have it are positioned to compete in the global marketplace.  Those that don’t risk being on the wrong side of an ever-growing digital divide.

“Broadband is a key driver for economic development, public safety, education, health care, and job creation. Without question, broadband connectivity is the life-blood of the digital economy,” said Governor Edward G. Rendell. “You can’t overstate its impact on public services, local economies and quality of life.”
