Pennsylvania ’s Plan to Reduce the Burden of Asthma:
The 2008 Pennsylvania Asthma Focus Report: Inpatient Hospitalizations with a Primary Discharge Diagnosis of Asthma describes the burden of asthma on Pennsylvania’s population for 2003-2006 through a detailed and comprehensive analysis of inpatient hospitalizations with the primary discharge diagnosis of asthma. The report provides information concerning age-adjusted asthma hospitalization rates, average and total hospitalization charges, and average length of stay by sex, race/ethnicity and age group throughout the state as well as in Pennsylvania counties and districts. It is anticipated that the report will assist public health programs and policy makers to design solutions for the reduction of asthma hospitalization rates.
The Pennsylvania Asthma Action Plan 2012 (2.12 MB) is a comprehensive statewide plan created to reduce the burden of asthma in Pennsylvania. It was developed by a coalition of over 20 private and public groups around Pennsylvania under the coordination of the Pennsylvania Department of Health. It is a ‘blueprint’ to be used by all who share the vision of coordinating efforts to improve asthma control in Pennsylvania.
The 2012 Pennsylvania Asthma Burden Report (2.44 MB) is a key source that illustrates and defines the burden of asthma in Pennsylvania. It presents data associated with asthma prevalence, health care, hospitalization and deaths related to asthma in the Commonwealth.
The 2006 Pennsylvania Mold Management Task Force Addendum. Pennsylvania adopted, as minimal standards, the 2000 New York City (NYC) Guidelines on the Assessment and Remediation of Fungi in Indoor Environments. These Guidelines were updated by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in 2008. The Pennsylvania Department of Health, in its pursuit to prevent disease and assure the safe delivery of quality healthcare to all commonwealth citizens, has adopted the 2008 NYC Guidelines.
