Breastfeeding Awareness and Support Plan
Breastfeeding is the doorway to a child’s health. Increasing breastfeeding initiation, duration and exclusivity rates result in decreases in child morbidity and mortality. Long-term public health, family and child benefits are maximized by long-term breastfeeding.
Pennsylvania’s 2013 Breastfeeding Awareness and Support Plan, Mother’s Milk - Food of Health for Pennsylvania Children, recommends activities and partnering opportunities directed toward eliminating barriers to long-term breastfeeding for commonwealth residents.
You are welcome to download, copy or distribute this Plan in-part or entirety to promote breastfeeding or assist in breastfeeding promotion activities.
Your thoughts and recommendations for future Plan updates are welcomed. Please call us with your ideas at 717-772-2763 or c-kahoover@pa.gov.
