Gems from the Rare Collections of the State Library

The Rare Collections of the State Library of Pennsylvania include printed books, periodicals, newspapers, pamphlets, government documents, maps and manuscripts from the late 15th through the 20th centuries. Most works-though by no means all-relate to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or document a chapter of the nation’s history. The following list offers a sampling of topics and titles represented in the Rare Collections Library. Each item is linked to a published profile that appeared in the Office of Commonwealth Libraries online journal Compendium since the summer of 2011.
