Lesson Plans to Implement the Academic Standards
of Career Education and Work
With Activities Found Within the PA Career Zone Website   

The Bureau of Career and Technical Education, Pennsylvania Department of Education, is proud to present the following lesson plans. The following plans submitted by practitioners from the specified schools below link specific grade level career standards with educational activities found at www.pacareerzone.com. Through each lesson plan, students at various grade levels participate in activities of self assessment and investigation as they explore their career options. The lesson plans blend well with school planning and curriculum design in implementing the Career Education and Work Standards. The Career Education and Work Standards, Chapter 4 of Title 22, are part of the State Board of Education’s regulations of required education for all students in Pennsylvania . The Career Education and Work Standards address four areas of knowledge:

  • Career Awareness and Preparation
  • Career Acquisition (Getting a Job) 
  • Career Retention and Advancement 
  • Entrepreneurship
